Getting the exactly the same error. Only thing is, that I'm running fc11.

I have gotten the same error and I don't understand. If we are using fedora 11 what the problems are with fedora 10 packages. I didn't have problems with fedora 10, but fedora 11 is untrust.

what yum plugins do you have installed? B/c it sure looks like one of the plugins is not doing the right thing here.

the same problem without plugins. I've upgraded f10 to f11 so it's showing some f10 packages I suppose.

Hi, I've found a solution for this. Try to run "rpm -qa | grep kmod-open-vm-tools", and then remove but by the "rpm -e" those packages with *fc10*. Then run "yum update" as usual. It seems that rpm database have entries with those packages that are not available in the system. "yum list *fc10*" shows those packages but you cannot remove them by yum.

Best regards, Esail

Esail, thank you for posting this solution. It works indeed! However I think many other users will need this problem to be fixed automatically by yum/PackageKit. I suggest we leave this ticket open until that time.

Cheers

"rpm -qa | grep kmod-open-vm-tools" returns empty for me. So what to do now?

I used "rpm -qa | grep kmod" and deleted the *fc10* packages. Everything updated fine with yum afterwards.

I belive that in case of Fedora 11, the problem is a "preupgrade" mechanism. I had Fedora 10 and upgraded it to Fedora 11 by preupgrade. This process left some packages from fc10.

Regards, Esail

08/11/09 05:53:51 changed by hvn52

@ fvangeirt: this works fine. Thank you.

@ Esail: I upgraded to F11 by DVD, not preupgrade. Yet, I was left with some F10 packages that I had to upgrade by hand.

So still problem here,i just followed your ideas and the problem was solved afterwards, maybe i should post the workaround,

The Problem pointed to

FEHLER mit rpm_check_debug gegen depsolve: kernel-uname-r = 2.6.27.21-170.2.56.fc10.i686 is needed by (installed) kmod-nvidia-2.6.27.21-170.2.56.fc10.i686-180.51-1.fc10.1.i686

so [root@fedora jstephan]# rpm -qa | grep kmod kmod-nvidia-2.6.27.24-170.2.68.fc10.i686-180.51-1.fc10.5.i686 kmod-nvidia-185.18.14-1.fc11.2.i586 kmod-nvidia-2.6.29.5-191.fc11.i586-185.18.14-1.fc11.1.i586 kmod-nvidia-2.6.27.21-170.2.56.fc10.i686-180.51-1.fc10.1.i686 kmod-nvidia-2.6.29.6-213.fc11.i586-185.18.14-1.fc11.2.i586 kmod-nvidia-2.6.29.4-167.fc11.i586-185.18.14-1.fc11.i586

than [root@fedora jstephan]# rpm -e kmod-nvidia-2.6.27.21-170.2.56.fc10.i686-180.51-1.fc10.1.i686 [root@fedora jstephan]# rpm -e kmod-nvidia-2.6.27.24-170.2.68.fc10.i686-180.51-1.fc10.5.i686

and it finally works

that solution with deleting kmod-* packages and yum update & yum install kmod-* works for me too :-)
