faad2 conflicts with xmms (I think)

Reported by: Donald Assigned to: skvidal
Priority: major Milestone: rpm_check vs. depsolve dead end
Component: yum Version: Stable: 3.2.x
Keywords: faad2 ffmpeg xmms Cc:

Description

I enabled the atrpms repository and installed the uvc package & its dependency. PackageKit? came up and prompted me to update xmms. After that PackageKit? prompted me to update four other packages, including faad2-1:2.7-16.fc12 (x86_64). The changelog notes for faad2 mention that it generates conflicts with xmms-faad2 from a third-party repository. I tried the update and received this error message:

ERROR with rpm_check_debug vs depsolve: faad2-libs >= 1:2.6.1 is needed by ffmpeg-libs-0.5-5.20091026svn.fc12.i686

We can't debug PackageKit? ... but can you try running:

package-cleanup --problems

...and if that doesn't show anything, can you give us a full: yum -d 9 update xmms

I was incorrect; it has nothing to do with xmms. It had to do with inconsistent faad2 & ffmpeg packages in the atrpms and rpmfusion repositories. I uninstalled and then reinstalled faad2 (and inverse dependencies) and that took care of the problem.
